You are never Alone

In English class we are read the poem "Upon the Burning of our House" by Anne Bradstreet, which is about her. Bradstreet's house burnt down which was one of the most tragic things that happened to her. At the end of the poem it talks about how all of her treasures are in heaven. In 2012, I lost one of my bestfriends, my great grandfather. He meant the world to me! I would always call him everyday after school just to talk to him. He was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2011, they knew he didn't have much time left. When I lost him I felt like I was alone because I just lost my best friend. I cried all the time because I didn't know what to do without him there. I was at home doing homework one night and heard the song "Don't Worry Now" by Britt Nicole. The song talks about how even though you are alone God is always watching over you. I really connected to this song and knew that everything would be alright because I knew that my great grandfather is up in heaven waiting for me to come home.

"I've been trying to find a way to understand, When I can't see the picture of God's plan. Why would He let us hurt so bad? Could anything good come of these feelings that I have?"- Britt Nicole

Home sweet Not Home

We read in English class the autobiography My Sojourn in the Land of my Ancestors by Maya Angelo. The autobiography talks about her home that is away from her home in Africa. My church is my home away from home. I have been there my whole life, I've grown up there. Walking inside of the building gives me goosebumps everytime. Closing my eyes and listening to the worship band sing and praise the Lord. The smell of biscuits and gravy with a hint of coffee on sunday mornings. The feel of the comfy chairs sitting down listening to the sermon, the taste of the mints they give you when you walk in, and being welcomed as you walk in. Being at church makes me think of home. I love my church because it is my second home.

Something Simple

In English class we watched the movie Amazing Grace. The movie is about William WIlberforce and how he tries to pass a bill to abolish slavery. William stresses over the bill and for people to make sure the bill is passed. While watching this movie it made me realized how much effort William put in for people to agree with him for his bill. I started to think of myself and how I should put in more effort and talk to new people each day. We don't know what is going through everyone's minds or how there day has gone. Just a simple "hello" or "how's it going" could change someone's day. The more people that put in the effort to just say something simple like that could change a person.

A Separate Peace Book Trailer

\

A Separate Peace is worth reading. It's about friendship and how everything matters. How you shouldn't take life for granted, how to be thankful for what your talents are and not be jealous. My process for the trailer was finding the right pictures that makes you have to think about the picture. My first image I chose is the stages of flowers. It represents how Gene has matured throughout this book, which goes along in the flowers growth. The flowers need sun and water to grow and Gene needs people in his life to pick him up along the way and help him. Also how life will throw tough obstacles in your way. Gene finds this out very quickly. My second photo is covet. I picked the picture of a couple of little girls who are sharing an umbrella and in the background you see a girl jealous because either that is her friend or she doesn't have any. This relates to Gene because he is jealous of his friend Finny who is athletic and good at everything. Gene wants to be just like him because he thinks he is perfect in a way. My last picture I used is identity. This picture is a hand with the words "Who am I?" Gene needs to find out who he is. Not from what other people are telling him to be but what he wants to be. This book was an amazing book and I would recommend it to anyone.

Succeeding Goals for High-school

A Climate Change Concept Image - stock photo

For my junior year I have some goals I would like to accomplish. My first goal is to be closer to God. Being closer with him and my walk and faith be stronger is amazing and I want to be closer. Talking to God and doing my daily devotion in the mornings takes all the stress out of me for that day and helps me start a new one. My second goal is to have better grades. Last year I didn't really get the best of grades but this year I am going to change that. I am challenging myself to have better grades. Getting good grades means getting into a good college that can help me achieve my goals for college.  My last goal is to be more organized. The more organized I am the better I can keep everything up to date. I have found out from my own experience if I don't write down my homework I forget it and get a zero on it due to not doing it.
